AustraliaReelShort Review: Price, Catalogue, Complaints
ReelShort is worth a try if its genres match the series you want and you will check the cost at each paywall. The US store listing confirms a free download, paid offers and a large pool of user ratings. It cannot tell you what finishing a particular series costs. Only the in-app episode prices can.

What does ReelShort offer?
The US App Store listing describes billionaire romance, comeback stories and tragedy. That is the developer's own description, not a counted library. The store gives no reliable count of distinct finished series. New titles and regional rights can change what you see after you install.
A short drama splits a serial story into phone-sized episodes. The opening can be free while later episodes need coins, ads or VIP access. Coins are credits spent on unlocks. VIP is time-limited access sold as a subscription. Judge the app by the one show you want, not by its total library claim. The 2025 Vertical Drama Love fan vote marks ReelShort as App of the Year, per the organizer's results. A fan award is not a price check either.
How much does ReelShort cost in the US?
As of September 28, 2026, the US App Store lists the following offers. They are public listing prices in US dollars. Your account, promotion and platform can change the offer.
| Public listing item | US price | What remains to check |
|---|---|---|
| In-app offers | Subscription $19.99; one-time purchases $4.99 to $29.99 | Verify the exact billing period and benefits in the purchase screen. |
| Download | Free | Free download does not mean the whole catalogue is free. |
The store list is a menu of offers, not the bill for a series. Before you buy, count the locked episodes left and compare a coin pack with a subscription for that series. The ReelShort price page keeps the offer types together. If the checkout says weekly, multiply the weekly price by the number of weeks you expect to use it. Do not assume a generic “Subscription” label is monthly.
What is free, and where do ads fit?
ReelShort offers free opening episodes and in-app rewards. How many episodes you can unlock varies by series. Google Play labels the app with ads and in-app purchases. That does not mean every locked episode can be watched with an ad. Free allowances and reward tasks can change, and the store publishes no per-series schedule.
To test it, open the next episode, note the unlock choices, and check how many episodes remain. If ads are available, note whether they can unlock the whole series or only slow down the paywall. Free routes for ReelShort covers the official options.
How should you read its ratings and complaints?
On September 28, 2026, the US App Store showed 4.7 from about 502K US App Store ratings. The US Google Play listing showed 3.8 stars from about 1.9 million reviews on the same date. A rating is a snapshot of submitted reviews. It shows broad satisfaction. The complaint text shows the exact problem a viewer hit.
The visible store reviews include complaints about coin costs and subscription confusion. If you hit one of these, see how to contact ReelShort support. A complaint shows one user reported an issue. It does not prove the issue affects everyone. Read the newest reviews for your device and country before you pay. No complaint rate or Trustpilot or BBB consensus is claimed here, because no comparable audit is in the sources.
Who is ReelShort for, and who should skip it?
| Viewer | Verdict |
|---|---|
| You want billionaire romance, comeback stories and tragedy | Try the free opening, then calculate the price to finish that title. |
| You expect a fixed monthly streaming library | Check the exact VIP terms first. Coin and weekly offers can work differently. |
| You dislike ad-based unlocks | Check the locked episode screen before starting another series. |
| You want a known cancellation route | Prefer an Apple or Google billed plan and save the receipt. |
ReelShort makes most sense for a specific series you cannot find elsewhere at a better verified price. It makes least sense as an impulse subscription bought before you check the renewal period. Compare it with other short-drama apps and read the main app guide before committing to a plan.
How does ReelShort make money?
ReelShort earns from viewers in three ways: coins that unlock single episodes, a recurring VIP subscription, and ads. Its US App Store listing, checked October 2, 2026, shows a $19.99 subscription and one-time purchases from $4.99 to $29.99. A developer reply on the same listing says you can unlock content by watching optional ads or completing rewarded tasks, and Google Play marks the app as containing ads. Wikipedia reports that coins can be bought or earned by watching ads, and that the app reached about $700 million in revenue in 2025. For the cost to you, see the ReelShort price guide.
How do you stop paying or request a refund?
| Where the receipt came from | How to stop renewal | Refund route |
|---|---|---|
| Apple App Store | Settings → your name → Subscriptions → select the plan → Cancel Subscription | Apple refund request |
| Google Play | Google Play subscriptions → select the plan → Cancel subscription | Google refund guidance |
| App or website directly | Follow the merchant's account and billing instructions on the receipt | Contact that merchant using the receipt details |
Apple's cancellation guide and Google's cancellation guide explain the store routes. Google says uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription. If you cannot find the plan, check which account and merchant appear on the receipt. Apple and Google cannot cancel a direct website purchase. That needs the merchant named on the receipt.
Cancelling stops future renewals. It does not refund a past charge. Save your receipt and the confirmation screen. The store's support guide explains how to request a refund and who qualifies.
